International Quilt Day All Things Quilts

The Patchwork and Quilters Guild, International Quilt Day was a huge success and plans are already in place for next year.

The Workhouse will have an exhibition of small quilts and children’s workshops again next year, further details will be posted later in the year..

The Workhouse Coffee Shop will also have a number of specials on offer to celebrate the day.

Heritage Week 21st August to 29th August 2010

on Sunday 22nd August 11.00am to 1.00pm,
€5.00 per person.

Willow & Tissue Sculpture

A workshop suitable for those working with children or young people, as they explore projects to promote traditional skills in a fun way.

Tuesday 24th August, 1.00pm to 5.00pm,
€40 per person and all materials provided and booking advised, as places are limited.

All in A Pickle

Join Joyce McCaughey and the Workhouse team and learn some traditional recipes for pickles and jams.
There will be a demonstration in the Coffee Shop, with tastings and refreshments.

Thursday 26th August 5.00pm to 6.00pm,
€3.00 per person.

Recycle and reuse old clothes and make fashionable and fun bags.

Wee Hannah Famine Exhibition & New Lake Exhibition

Wee Hannah a survivor of the famine and inhabitant of the Workhouse, hear her story and visit the New Lake exhibition free of charge for one day only.

The Dunfanaghy Jazz & Blues

image of blues singerFollowing on from last year's hugely successful festival the Festival commiittee are delighted to announce that the 2010 Dunfanaghy Jazz and Blues Festival will take place from Friday September 10th - Sunday 12th September. Those of you who joined us last year already know what a great weekend it was and certainly it was the busiest weekend Dunfanaghy has ever seen. So come along and enjoy the music and craic.

The Workhouse will be taking part with music and a workshop for young people.

The Dunfanaghy Community Children’s Choir

The Children’s Choir meets on a Wednesday afternoon from 3.15pm to 4.30pm with Anne Patterson in The Workhouse. The sessions run during the school term and each session costs €3.00.

A big thank you to Anne for a fantastic time from all the Children as they finish up for the school holidays.

The next classes start in September.
